I highly recommend tours with Azores4Travel. The whole experience was absolutely amazing. We did three private tours which encompassed a good portion of the island. Sr. Euleterio’s knowledge of Sao Miguel Island and the local culture is impressive. This was more than a tour it was a learning experience. At the end of each tour we left with great memories, great pictures and a greater appreciation for the local culture and natural beauty of Sao Miguel.

We used Azores4Travel for two full day tours of the island. Eleutherio is an excellent guide, who showed us all the wonderful sites in a very comfortable van. He is very passionate about his home and would love to show you around. Very reasonable prices and delicious lunch included! A+++! Ask about his great apartments as well. Great prices, very comfortable and free wi-fi. Excellent locations too.

“Sao Miguel without a rental car”
We visited two of the nine islands—Sao Miguel and Terceira—in October/November. Instead of renting a car as usual, on Sao Miguel (the largest island) we opted to take two tours. These offered the opportunity to learn more about the island than we could have discovered on our own and to ask many questions of a guide who knew it intimately. After this overview, Sao Miguel’s extensive bus system allowed more leisurely visits to places where we wanted to spend more time. (A bus schedule is available at the tourist information center across from the harbor)
Our guide on Sao Miguel, Eleuterio Valido of Azores4travel, was flexible and fun. A cruise ship containing a party of our friends from the U.S. friends stopped at Porta Delgada while we were there so we toured together. (Cruise passengers who arrange tours in advance and provide the names of everyone in the group get an earlier start for their tour and avoid disappointment if there are not enough guides available). Our friends were impressed with the beauty of the island and picturesque towns they would have missed had they opted just to walk around downtown as many visitors were doing.
A local T-shirt slogan claims that the Azores has 4 seasons--all in a day. We appreciated both this weather variety and sunny days for exploring and mountain walks. On a second tour in November we saw people happily swimming in a tidal pool at Ponta da Ferraria where water from a volcanic hot spring mixes with the sea water.
We also stayed in two different attractive, reasonably priced apartments that Eleuterio rents in Ponta Delgada (Wazores.com). He did warn us that travelers planning to travel to any island during a local festival, or in the popular summer months, should book lodging, tours, etc. well ahead.

“Best way to see Sao Miguel!”
Eleuterio took us from our cruise ship and 8 of us toured the island. So nice after huge busloads of people on the cruise tours! He took us to sites that the big buses couldn't get too. He was knowledgeable, fun to talk to, and enthusiastic about the Azores. I'd highly recommend arranging a tour with him. New van, safe and clean!
“REALLY REALLY GREAT!”
Eleuterio took my cousin and I on a tour our first day in the Azores (Sao Miguel). He does private tours so he asks what we wanted to see and do and catered to our interests. Along the way to our main destinations he explained facts and about the history and culture of the island. He is so knowledgable and passionate about his home, it was clear to see that throughout the tour. On our last day there (after a week stay) we emailed him again to see if he would be available to take us around to see whatever we may have missed and he was. And he was able to show us around to a lot more that we had no idea we had missed. He is prompt in responding and very accommodating. I would highly highly highly recommend him to anyone visiting this beautiful country. He also owns apartments that he rents to people visiting as well and takes people on tours from the apartments as well so reach out to him if you're interested in that!

“Fabulous Private Day Tours: SIghtseeing, Hiking and Biking”
Our first trip to the Azores was a "big bus" tour. For our second visit we wanted to do some hiking, bicycle and explore on our own. We were lucky to find Eleuterio of Azores4travel who offered to tailor the day to meet our wishes. He planned fabulous hikes and biking for us, maximizing what we could see. He took us to attractions and lookout points we would not even have known about. After a great first day, we booked him for the remaining days of our visit. He had a lot of information to share and was a friendly and personable guy. We hope to go back next year and we will definitely try to hire him again. Thank you!!

An nur einem Tag hat Eleuterio mir und meiner Freundin auf einer Inselrundfahrt die schönsten Fleckchen und Aussichtspunkte "seiner" Insel gezeigt.
Dabei erzählt er in perfektem Englisch Interessantes und gibt "Insiderwissen" preis.
Wir haben einen herrlichen Tag mit vielen "Wow"-Erlebnissen erlebt, den wir so schnell nicht vergessen werden.
Ich werde diese wunderschöne Insel bestimmt nochmal besuchen und wieder eine Insel-Tour buchen -natürlich nur mit Eleuterio!

“So muss eine Insel-Rundfahrt sein!”
Nach zwei fantastischen Ausflügen 2014 mit Eleutério waren wir auch 2015 wieder unterwegs. Direkt nach der Abholung am Flughafen hat er uns einige besondere – kleine - Aussichtspunkte gezeigt, die von den großen Veranstaltern nicht angefahren werden, selbstverständlich kostenlos.
Eleutério bietet seine Touren grundsätzlich nach individueller Absprache mit seinen Gästen an, mit seinem perfekten Englisch ist er ein perfekter Ratgeber, er begleitet seine Gäste immer persönlich und wird schon nach kürzester Zeit zu einem geduldigen, unentbehrlichen und unaufdringlichen Guide.
Als „wandelndes Lexikon“ kennt er seine Insel in allen Facetten, jede noch so kleine Bucht wird auf Wunsch angefahren, wir haben vorher nicht gewusst welche schönen Ecken Sao Miguel hat.
Spezielle Tipps sind inbegriffen, - wo gibt es den besten Bäcker- warmes Bolo direkt vom Erzeuger, -wo holt sogar die Polizei das inseleigene Mineralwasser aus der Quelle... .
Die Touren werden gegen den Strom der großen Anbieter geplant, es immer Platz und Ruhe, selbstredend werden keine „Touristenfallen“ zum Essen oder zum landestypischen Einkauf angefahren, vielmehr organisiert er kleine private Führungen, die ohne weitere Kosten inclusive sind.
Der genutzte Fuhrpark ist neuwertig und bestens gepflegt, Regenschirm immer dabei, der Preis ist sehr günstig.
Die Touren sind äußerst empfehlenswert, so lässt sich Sao Miguel individuell perfekt erkunden, ein halber oder ganzer Tag mit Eleutério sind ein Erlebnis der ganz besonderen Art.

We decided to take a day tour with Eleuterio and were so impressed and pleased that we continued with a second all-day tour. He was a fantastic host, and provided an individualized tour that was completely suitable to our abilities - He knew when to offer a short hike that was suitable for all and more challenging ones for those who were up to a more demanding hike. Eleuterio's tour included places that were not mentioned in the tourist guides, sharing his love of the island of Sao Miguel. We can’t imagine a better way to discover all that Sao Miguel has to offer!

What a lovely place!
Eleuterio, met us at the airport and we hired him to show us the island. We went out with him on three very packed and well organized day trips. He was very knowledgeable, good sense of humor and very sensitive to our tastes. Took and sent us off on small hikes. Found great restaurants for lunch and never seemed to tire of showing us his island. My one mistake was that I forgot to take my swimsuit which would have be useful for a quick dip in the thermal pools.

Eleutério took us on a tour to see the east part of the island, and we would recommend any of the trips on offer as an introduction to Sao Miguel. As seniors we were able to take advantage of seeing part of the island without having to take buses or rent a car. Estou aqui a escrever o meu testemunho, pelo belíssimo passeio que dei durante dois dias. Observei paisagens lindíssimas, que só os açores têm, curiosidades interessantes da ilha, como a produção do ananás, a fábrica do Chá Gorreana, o cozido das Furnas, a água gasificada nas Furnas, etc.. Também fiquei bastante bem impressionado com gastronomia, a começar com as queijadas de Vila Franca, o Bolo Lêvedo, o queijo da ilha, o belo cozido das Furnas, a magnifica caldeirada de peixe (Peixe maravilhoso), etc… Fiquei muito satisfeito por tudo o que aconteceu neste fim-de-semana, com a perspectiva de voltar um dia. Tenho que dar todos os elogios ao Sr. Eleutério por todo o cuidado em planear este passeio de 2 dias e conseguir ver e degustado tanta coisa. Recomendo totalmente este serviço prestado pelo Sr. Eleutério. Obrigado Bruno Durão

Whilst on our holiday thanks to Eleutério we were able to use the services of Azores4travel to take tours around the Island. These are not your normal tours stopping at a coupe of locations but in depth tours showing all the best features of the Island many of which are only known to the Azoreans. We enjoyed our tours so much that we took all three tours on offer. We now feel we know enough about the Island to want to return for another holiday as soon as we can. We cannot thank Eleutério enough for showing us such a wonderful Island and giving us the best holiday we have ever had.
